 Не многие родители великих спортсменов, когда впервые привели своих отпрысков в спортивную секцию, думали о том, что их дети станут знаменитыми. Но не стоит сильно усердствовать. Главное правило - не навредить.
Для начала нужно соотнести ту физическую нагрузку, которой будет подвергаться ребенок, занимаясь в секции с его же возможностями. Необходимо помнить в первую очередь о том, что чрезмерные физические нагрузки не только не принесут пользы для ребенка, но и навредят его психическому и физическому развитию. Хроническая усталость, нервные срывы и конфликты со взрослыми - это далеко не полный список того, что может ожидать ребенка при сильных физических перегрузках. Поэтому все должно быть в меру. Если тот или иной вид спорта (например, художественная гимнастика, фигурное катание) требует больших физических нагрузок родителям нужно взвесить все «плюсы» и «минусы» и только потом принимать окончательное решение.
Каждый вид спорта вырабатывает в ребенке определенные качества. Теннис развивает молниеносную реакцию, формирует атлетическую фигуру. Футбол, хоккей, единоборства хороши для развития таких качеств, как выносливость, координация движений, сила воли. Но практически все виды спорта превращают ребенка в сильную личность. Если родителями было принято решение о спортивной направленности личности ребенка, то для начала необходимо определится с выбором секции. Не стоит отдавать ребенка в ту секцию, где занимаются друзья и знакомые ребенка. Нужно иметь ввиду, что у каждого ребенка разные физические данные. Для начала родителям следует присмотреться к личности своего ребенка, оценить, на сколько он сможет ладить с другими детьми, есть ли у него стремление добиваться результатов, сможет ли он спокойно относится к выигрышам и проигрышам. Если ребенок отличается повышенной общительностью, у него много друзей, то командные виды спорта для него самый что ни на есть подходящий вариант. Если же у ребенка преобладают лидерские качества, он не готов делить победу с кем-то, то для него лучшим вариантом будет спортивная или художественная гимнастика, настольный теннис.
Темперамент ребенка играет не менее важную роль при выборе спортивной секции. Секции единоборств подойдут для гиперактивных ребятишек. Занимаясь в секции единоборств, ребенок сможет выплеснуть чрезмерную энергию, избавиться от агрессии. Для застенчивых и легко ранимых деток, не склонных к агрессивности и лидерству, подойдут спокойные виды спорта, такие как конный спорт, плавание.
Для деток с неврологическими проблемами удачным выбором будет бассейн и верховая езда. Вода, как и общение с животными успокаивает маленького человечка, раскрепощает его, делает более устойчивым к стрессовым ситуациям. Перед тем, как отправится в спортивную секцию необходимо взять медицинскую справку о состоянии здоровья ребенка. Родителям не стоит также забывать, что любые занятия спортом таят в себе скрытые угрозы для здоровья. Поэтому не помешает понаблюдать за поведением тренеров на занятиях, если педагог не уделяет должного внимания безопасности детей, от такой секции лучше отказаться и не рисковать.
Нужно помнить, что безопасность ребенка на занятиях превыше всего. Самым травмоопасным видом спорта является хоккей. Риск травматизма настолько велик, что в будущем у ребенка могут возникнуть непоправимые проблемы со здоровьем. Поэтому, если ребенка тянет в этот вид спорта, желательно не отдавать его в слишком раннем возрасте. Если у ребенка есть проблемы со здоровьем - лучше не рисковать. Это может только усугубить ситуацию.
Спорт категорически противопоказан, если есть проблемы с сердцем, нарушения в сосудистой системе (высокое артериальное давление). Нельзя заниматься в секциях, если у ребенка проблемы с органами дыхания и пищеварения. Второе место по степени опасности принадлежит заболеваниям позвоночника. Не рекомендуется заниматься единоборствами и асимметричными видами спорта (например, теннисом). Многие виды спорта противопоказаны при близорукости. Но, если у ребенка нет миопии высокой степени и осложнений на глазном дне, предпочтение стоит отдать художественной гимнастике, волейболу, баскетболу, фигурному катанию, конному спорту, плаванию. Но не стоит отчаиваться, если ребенку противопоказаны даже самые небольшие физические нагрузки. Можно остановиться на шахматной секции, развивающей внимание, память, логическое мышление. Для общего укрепления таких ребятишек прекрасно подойдет лечебная физкультура.

Заблуждения:
Кстати говоря, мнение о том, что занятия тяжелой атлетикой снижают рост костей, является заблуждением. Штангисты-мастера спорта имеют длину тела и верхних конечностей меньше средневозрастных, но это эффект отбора спортом, а не следствие прекращения ростовых процессов в результате занятий спортом. То же самое можно сказать о художественной гимнастике - посмотришь на гимнасток, а они все маленькие, худенькие... Не правы и те родители, которые считают, что занятия баскетболом помогут их ребенку вырасти. Рост любого человека примерно на 90% определяется генетически, вес - на 70%. Так что, если в вашем роду рост мужчин не превышает 165 см, баскетбол не сделает из вашего сына двухметрового Майкла Джордана. Генетику не проведешь!

7 лет Фигурное катание, теннис, спортивная и художественная гимнастика
8-11 лет Акробатика, горные виды, прыжки в воду
9-12 лет Батут, гонки, биатлон
10-13 лет Волейбол, баскетбол, борьба (все виды), ручной мяч, современное пятиборье, фехтование, футбол, хоккей, академическая гребля, коньки
11-13 лет Конный спорт, легкая атлетика
11-14 лет Байдарка, каноэ, шахматы
12-13 лет Бокс, велоспорт
13-14 лет Легкая атлетика
14-15 лет Стендовая стрельба
